2024 Orders Dig and Dispatch
What little summer we had this year seems to be over !
We have started to dig and dispatch of the Orders placed in 2024, so I thought a quick note would help our customers understand what we do and how....
Starting the first week of September we dig the rhizomes for each order by date. So if you placed your order early in the year we will dig and dispatch your order in early September and so on.
Once the main dig and dispatch or iris is complete we will re-open the website for orders.
Iris orders placed between now and the end of October will be dispatched every 7-10 days. Once the weather has closed in and the soil temperature is dropping we will close orders for this year, as your garden soil will be too cold to stimulate root growth on the newly planted iris over winter.
If you are at all worried about the iris in your garden over winter then plant them in pots when you receive them, keep them in an unheated greenhouse or cold frame on the dry side of damp, then plant out in spring before flowering. You may need to pin then down to prevent rocking if there is a tall leaf fan. See post below on dividing and planting iris.
Thank you to all our customers, as a British family-run business we really appreciate your support.
Happy gardening, we do hope you enjoy your iris for many years to come.
